In 1997, the articles for Piercing Fans International Quarterly (PFIQ) issue no. 51 had been designed and laid out, but before it could be completed, funds dried up, and the issue was shelved. Soon after, Gauntlet went under. In 2004, Gauntlet was resurrected but with a different focus.
To celebrate Gauntlet’s 50th anniversary, the original design files were revived and the 56 page issue was completed. After 27 years, advancements in print technology have made it possible to offer color throughout the issue.
